My first giveaway: Freshwater Pearl Bracelet!
March 11, 2009 in contest

Cheerios is on a mission to raise awareness of heart disease and to provide free cholesterol screenings to women in need. According to a survey they conducted recently, 37 percent of adults haven’t had their cholesterol checked in the past year. And I’m sure you all know that cholesterol is a leading cause of heart disease.
I know for me, heart disease is a very scary thing. My grandfather and my grandmother’s sister have both had heart attacks in the past 10 years or so. I honestly don’t know how much genetics has to do with it, but if it’s a factor, I’ve got it coming from both sides of the family. Yikes! So even though I am very young, I frequently worry about the condition of my heart and even my cholesterol number.
Cheerios wants your help! They have decided to donate $1 , up to $200,000, for each code entered at the Cheerios Circle of Helping Hearts website. As I mentioned earlier, they want to raise awareness and offer free cholesterol screenings. So we need to do everything we can to make sure they get to the maximum $200,000!
Cheerios also wants to say thank you. They’ve generously offered to give 3 freshwater pearl bracelets away to my readers! Check this baby out:

It is beautiful! I’ve had it on since the moment it showed up on my doorstep. And I feel like each time someone asks about it, I have a chance to raise awareness about heart disease. Beauty and a purpose!
I’m giving your 2 chances to win.
- Comment here with ways that you maintain a healthy heart. Is it exercise, diet, frequent cholesterol screenings? Or if heart disease has affected your life in anyway, please share that. Or just say hey if you have nothing to say about heart disease. :)
- Post a link to this contest on your blog. Comment a second time to let me know you did it.
Contest closes Saturday March 14 at noon, central time. I’ll use the random number generator to announce the winners after that and give you a few days to send me your address. If I don’t hear from you after, say 2 days, I’ll pull another number.
We can only ship to US address. Sorry ya’ll. :(
Guys, this is such an important subject. Every day I hear stories about people having heart attacks, and the people seem to be getting younger and younger. We’ve got to help Cheerios out!

My boyfriend and his family has a serious history of heart disease that is genetic. Because of that, our household is full of whole grains, lean proteins, and exercise equipment. We aren’t the picture of health and fitness, but by keeping only heart healthy items in the house, we force ourselves to pick up a hand weight or add oatmeal to our turkey burgers because it is there. Oh and he LOVES Cheerios!
I will be linking to your blog shortly!
heart disease runs in my family. my father had a massive heart attack in his 40s, as well as my grandfather who had many open heart surgeries. i am constantly worrying about the condition of my heart (even though i am only 25!). i work out, eat healthy, and try to be conscious of how i am feeling at all times.
Heart disease runs in my family so we have always been very conscious of what goes in our bodies. I keep heart healthy by eating right (most of the time) and getting check ups regularly. You are linked as we speak!
What a great giveaway!
I maintain a healthy heart by eating healthy and exercising. Thanks for the giveaway!
Heart problems run in my family, mostly due to poor diet and lack of exercise. I have not only incorporated lots of whole grains in my family’s diet–love those Honey Nut Cheerios–but strive to keep us active. Even if we don’t hit the elliptical every night, we aim to at least get moving . . . even if that means taking a walk at the mall instead of sitting on the couch.
I have you linked.
heart disease is honestly never something I gave much thought too, but I do try to limit my diet to “healthy fats” and get in some exercise.
I linked to you.

I don’t exercise as much as I should but I try to cook and eat healthy meals which include lots of vegetables and small portions of meat. I’ve recently tried using whole wheat flour in my baking in a bid to get more grains in my diet. It does change the way things taste though. So I do try to make good choices food-wise but given my love of sweet, tasty desserts I should probably exercise more:)
I have taken heart health very serious as of late. I am taking control of my intake of friend processed foods and replacing them with heart healthy fruits and veggies.
Great giveaway!!
I linked you as well!!
definitely with diet and exercise! and moderation :)
Per doctors orders I am on an aspirin regimin. I take one baby aspirin every day to keep my heart healthy.
I am trying to reduce my cholesterol through diet mainly with a little exercise on the side. I have cut way back on eating fast food and on fried foods. Trying to eat more fruits & vegetables.
I try to eat right. I also try to get my daily fiber because that really helps and finally I try to exercise as much as I can to try and maintain good health.
This is a beautiful giveaway! The bracelets are stunning! I try to maintain good heart health through a clean diet with lots of whole grains, fruits and veggies and nuts and through regular exercise (at least 4-5 days/week). And I linked back to this on my blog. :)
Just wanted you to know I received the bracelet I won. Oh it is so lovely and I can hardly wait to wear it. Thank you so much!!
Oh good! I was starting to worry since no one had received them yet! I hope you love it. :)
