I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone who doesn’t like a Rice Krispy treat. It’s, in my opinion, the best treat there is. I would choose a Rice Krispy treat over chocolate, over ice cream, cake, cupcakes, everything. It’s my favorite.
There are so many different versions of the Treat. I’ve seen them with everything from Fruit Loops to Golden Grahams but I wanted to find out what they were like with a “healthy” cereal. I used my favorite cereal, Kashi Go Lean which packs a mean protein punch and is absolutely delicious.
So how was it? A-mazing. The Kashi cereal is super crunchy so it’s an entirely different texture than the ones made with Rice Krispies. They’re pretty perfect. My 3 year old was thrilled with them and he has no idea that they (at least the cereal part) is actually good for him.
- 2 tablespoon butter
- 1 bag marshmallows
- 1 box Kashi Go Lean
- spray oil
- Melt butter over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until they’re melted and smooth. Remove from heat and add cereal. Stir until cereal is coated with marshmallows.
- Lightly spray a 9 x 13 inch pan with oil. Press marshmallow covered cereal into the pan, using your fingers once the marshmallows have cooled down. Allow to sit at least 20 minutes before cutting.
