Secret Recipe Club – Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookies
March 5, 2012 in chocolate, cookie

For this month’s Secret Recipe Club, I was given Amanda’s Cookin which was fun because she’s the lady who started the club. She has a ton of recipes on her blog but as soon as I saw the chocolate peanut butter cookies, I knew they were it for me. I do love a peanut butter cookie!
These are your basic peanut butter cookies with the addition of cocoa powder. They’re just as delicious as they sound and oh so rich! My 2 year old took one bite and said “my favorite!”
They were also easy as can be and I whipped them up in less than 30 minutes! Perfect for when you need a chocolate fix!
from Amanda's Cookin'
Ingredients
½ cup butter, softened
¾ cup crunchy peanut butter
1 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
3 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 egg
1¼ cups all purpose flour
½ cup cocoa
½ teaspoon salt
¾ teaspoon baking soda
sugar, for rolling
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Use a mixer to cream the softened butter, peanut butter, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Add the milk, vanilla, and egg and beat until combined.
- In a separate bowl, sift the flour, cocoa, salt and baking soda. Add to butter mixture low speed. Mix just until blended.
- Working with about a teaspoon of batter, roll into balls; place onto prepared sheet. Dip the tines of a fork into the sugar and press into the cookie to make a crisscross design. Continue for each cookie.
- Bake for 7 to 8 minutes, or until set and just beginning to brown. Cool on a wire rack.

Why have I never thought about adding cocoa to PB cookies before? They look delicious – perfect if you want some cookies quick! Great job!
the only thing that would make this better is caramel!
Love these They sound insane with the addition of chocolate!
Ooh, chocolate and peanut butter. Always a good combination. Great cookies!
These sound so yummy!
Great job on these. I love Chocolate Peanut Butter Cookies!
I’m glad you liked these :) Glad there was something fast for you to make in a jiffy! ;-) Hope you’ll stop by and see what I picked from your blog. Weird how we were assigned to each other this month! :)
Chocolate and peanut butter were meant for each other.
Great looking cookies. Can’t wait to try these out!
Chocolate and peanut butter are the best!
It is my firm belief that you can never, EVER go wrong with pb and chocolate. Those look delish and I think I would have chosen them too, for the SRC!
It’s like a classic peanut butter cookie, but with chocolate. I just imagine dunking these in milk, crumbling them on ice cream, and eating them for breakfast (on top of oatmeal, obviously).
They look soooo good. I love a good peanut butter cookie myself, but haven’t had a chocolate one. Something new to try! :)
You can never go wrong with chocolate and peanut butter!
Um, yes please! Love that the 2 year old was so matter of fact and quick about it. Clearly a kid that knows what’s what.
I love seeing all the recipes, but my favorite part is going through and seeing if I can guess which recipe is yours just from the picture. I’m usually able to get it within two or three guesses. The second one I clicked today was yours.
Cookies look amazing too!
The only thing better than wonderful peanut butter cookies are peanut butter cookies that also include chocolate…YUM!
If you haven’t already, I’d love for you to check out my SRC entry: Broiled Sushi.

Maybe its the drugs, but I could have sworn I commented on this one! I love a chocolate peanut butter cookie. My dad used to make something like this for me when I was little and I think they are just the perfect cookie :)
Now that’s one helluva cookie! These look amazing, Amanda. So rich and chewy and flavorful!
Oh man, one of my guy friends would be totally in LOVE with these! He loves anything chocolate peanut butter and even I’ve been on a bit of a peanut butter kick lately. Tucking this away for future cookie heaven! :D
This is definitely a craving fixer :) I love all things chocolate and peanut butter!
Looked all over the internet to find cookies that used peanut butter rather than peanut chips. These were worth the searching! yummy!!
