Scents of the Holiday (+ Dunkin Donuts)
November 30, 2012 in spon

If it hasn’t been completely obvious these last few years, I’m kind of obsessed with the holidays. I put my tree up a couple weeks ago even though I promised I was going to wait until after Thanksgiving. All my decorations are out. Our Elf on the Shelf has been not-so-patiently waiting in my closet to cause havoc all over the house. And my holiday candles are burning in every room.
I think the candles might be the most important part, especially since I (gasp) bought a fake tree this year. I’ve always hated fake trees but they really are so much easier. Now I don’t have to harass my husband to haul our tree away – I can just take it apart myself when I am tired of it the day after Christmas. But anyway, the problem with fake tress, as I’m sure you know, is they don’t smell like anything. Except maybe plastic. So I have a pine candle going in our living room to trick everyone into thinking the tree isn’t fake.
Other smells that are important to the holidays: fresh cookies baking, a roaring fire (even though we don’t have a fireplace! boohoo!), oranges, cranberries and cinnamon sticks, and coffee.
Coffee is one of those scents that immediately takes me back to holidays. My husband and I met during the holidays when I was, of course, working at a coffee shop. So the smell of a fresh pot of coffee always reminds me of those days. Of that first Christmas we shared together.

Dunkin Donuts wants to make your holidays extra special with their 3 limited edition holiday coffees:
- Pumpkin Spice: You’ll fall for this warm holiday flavor again and again.
- Gingerbread Cookie: Catch this perfect combination of sugar and spice if you can.
- Mocha Mint: Satisfy that chocolate craving with a warm cup of this minty winter treat.
Because nothing evokes the joy of the holidays like sharing memories with family and close friends over a cup of delicious coffee. The new seasonal varieties even have a cute gift tag on them so it’s easy to use them as stocking stuffers or hostess gifts.

We’re getting our tree up and lit today. Nothing like enjoying a cup of coffee next to the tree before the little ones are up in the morning, or a drink after they’ve gone to bed. Merry Christmas!
