Back at Christmas, my grandpa gave me Dorie Greenspan’s newest book Around My French Table which is a fantastic book if you haven’t had the chance to flip through. Having the book has enabled me to join another baking/cooking group, French Fridays with Dorie and I’m so excited to get out of my comfort zone once a week.
My first recipe with the group is Michel Rostang’s Double Chocolate Mousse Cake. It’s the strangest recipe I’ve ever seen! The entire cake is made out of chocolate mousse (no flour whatsoever) but you bake 1/3 of the mousse to form a cake-like “bowl†for the mousse. Then you can either serve the mousse as is inside the cake or you can bake the rest of the mousse inside the “bowl”. With little ones running around, I try to stay away from raw eggs, so I baked mine completely.
It turned out fantastic. The richest cake you can imagine! There’s a definite texture difference in the bottom and the top. The crackly top was reminiscent of a brownie and you guys know I love brownies!
The group isn’t posting the recipes because we want to encourage everyone to buy this fantastic cookbook.
