If there’s ever a time for a cocktail, it’s when your car breaks down days before your husband is coming home from Afghanistan, right? I mean, come on car, you couldn’t wait? Really?!
And of course, it happened right before the weekend so I’m without a car until Monday. And did I mention that our other car – my husband’s car – has a dead battery?
So today we’re talking cocktails!
There’s a really fun offer at Target right now where you can a free cocktail shaker (seen below) when you mix and match purchases of any three Diet, Regular or TEN Canada Dry, 7UP, A&W, and more beverages: 12 pk. cans and 6 pk. or 8 pk. bottles.

I’ve been obsessed with ginger lately – I want ginger EVERYTHING. Even my bathtub is currently stocked with ginger-scented items. Using Canada Dry in my cocktails has become my new thing because I only like bubbly drinks and the ginger ale is just a nice, delicious shake up from my usual sparkling water. It’s so perfect.
And since we’re headed into the holidays, I’ve been enjoying pairing it with white cranberry juice. This cocktail is super simple – just the Canada Dry, cranberry juice, fresh lime juice, vodka, and Triple Sec. Use your shaker, get it nice and cold, and then put some lime slices in.
I would’ve put fresh cranberries in too, but you know, no car.
Anyway, everyone will be entertaining over the holidays so get your bar stocked and make sure you take advantage of the Canada Dry Shaker Offer Available Exclusively at Target, while supplies last!
Cranberry Ginger Cocktail
For the ginger syrup:
3-inch piece fresh ginger, peeled and thinly sliced
1 cup water
1 cup sugar
!For the cocktail:
1/2 ounce ginger syrup (above)
1 1/2 ounce vodka
1/2 ounce triple sec
squeeze of fresh lime juice
1/3 cup white cranberry juice
1/3 cup Canada Dry Ginger Ale
To make the syrup, place sliced ginger, water, and sugar in a saucepan. Simmer for about 20 minutes, until the sugar has completely dissolved and the ginger has infused the syrup. Strain.
To make a cocktail, combine all ingredients and a lot of ice in a cocktail shaker. Shake well. Strain into a glass and add sliced lime.
