Guess what guys.

I grew that. All of it!

You guys know, I’m completely incapable of keeping a plants alive. Whenever I say this, people always respond with something like, “Oh, try rosemary! It’s impossible to kill!”

Nope, I’ve killed rosemary. A few times.

Part of it is that I live in Colorado. At 6,000 feet above sea level. The sun is so close that you go outside for 15 minutes and you come in smelling burnt. Eww, right? So it’s hard to keep plants from getting scorched. And I know there are some talented people who can do it, but I’m just not one of them.

The other part is that I’m kind of a flake when it comes to watering plants. My succulents, which are the only plants I’ve managed to keep alive for longer than a month, haven’t been watered in… I don’t know, weeks? But somehow they’re still kicking.

So when I got the opportunity to try a Miracle-Gro AeroGarden by AeroGrow, I jumped on it.

I assembled my Miracle-Gro AeroGarden ULTRA LED in less than 2 minutes. I’m not even joking. The parts snapped together easily and then once you turn it on, the Control Panel walks you through all the steps.

I chose to go with herbs because I feel like I spend SO MUCH MONEY on herbs at the grocery store every week. The Seed Pod Kit came with 7 pre-seeded pods – parsley, Thai basil, cilantro, mint, dill, Genovese basil, and chives – and you just pop them into the AeroGarden, fill the bottom basin with water, and put a tiny bit of the specially formulated Liquid Nutrients (plant food) in.

The Miracle-Gro AeroGarden ULTRA LED is on a timer so at 6 am every morning, the Grow Lights come on and then at 11 pm, they turn off. It’s really cool.

It also displays a message whenever you need to feed the plants or fill the water. Plus, every few days, it shows a little tip on how to help your plants grow even better.

I am obsessed with checking the herbs every day. My cilantro (above) has been growing like crazy and that makes me so happy because I can get major use of it. My two basil plants are also growing very quickly – the Thai basil sprouted by the second day!

As of the two week mark, all my herbs have sprouted and like I said, that cilantro’s getting huge!

(Parsley finally starting to poke through on day 13! That Grow Dome on the back is what the pods “wear” for the first few days, until they’ve sprouted and are growing pretty well.)

You can buy your own Miracle-Gro AeroGarden from You can find the AeroGarden 3SL at on 11/1/14 and select Walmart stores beginning 11/14/14. The ULTRA LED is available at and select Costco stores.
