I have big news.
I used a whisk to make these.
Whoa.
I know what you’re thinking. You’re all “Huh? A whisk? Why is that a big deal?”
Because I haven’t owned a whisk since sometime in 2007. I get A) tired of cleaning certain kitchen tools or B) tired of storing certain kitchen tools. So I trash them.

So anyway, I’ve gotten along just fine for many years just using a fork to whisk whatever needed to be whisked. But when my mom came out to visit, she was all “Where’s your whisk?” and then when my aunt came out to visit, she was all “You don’t have a whisk?”
I get it guys, I’m supposed to have a whisk.
I bought TWO at Ikea last weekend. Everyone can now stop worrying about how I’m making pudding or gravy or waffle batter.
Speaking of waffles, I made some. My friend Nicole is doing a waffle recipe every week this year and I’ve been so inspired by her. I made my Coconut Flour Waffles last week but this week I was in the mood for something different.
Maple Bacon Yeast Waffles!
I’m obsessed with yeast waffles, we know this. There is nothing better than being able to make waffle batter at midnight, pop it in the fridge, and then just cook them off in the AM when you’re not awake enough to make anything else. Plus, these are super delicious.

- 1 1/2 cups warm milk
- 6 tablespoons butter melted
- 3 tablespoons maple syrup
- 1 1/2 teaspoons instant yeast
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 eggs
- 2 cups flour
- 1/2 pound bacon cooked and crumbled
-
In a mixing bowl, whisk together warm milk, butter, maple syrup, and yeast. Let sit for about 5 minutes, until it's bubbly. Whisk in salt, eggs, and flour. Cover and let sit for at least an hour but you can leave it in the fridge overnight for an easy breakfast.

When ready to cook, fold in crumbled bacon. Cook according to waffle iron's instructions. Top with more bacon and maple syrup!
We have been on a total waffle kick around here, and these look outrageous in the best possible way!
My family loves waffles and these look so good! And, umm… I have five whisks. Five. So for all the kitchen junk you get rid of I buy 3. True story.
Congratulations on your purchase of not only 1 but 2 new whisks! I see many delicious recipes coming from them. I’ve never heard of yeast waffles but they do look amazing.
I have one newly purchased whisk because my kids use them as swords and they end up getting bent and all wonky. Plus, they are hard to clean and I rarely use them. I hear ya on the whisk front friend. Also? I need these in my life.
OH, I heart my whisk, but I do hate cleaning them. These look fab, I could eat waffles every week for a year! Maybe even every day!! Great recipe!
Um, Yes!!! You totally had me at maple bacon!
I am sharing these with my sister right now. She will just die! I also cannot believe you have not had a whisk for that long!!! I would go crazy!
I love this combo! We have such great maple syrup in Indiana so we have no shortage of ways to use it! This recipe would be perfect!
I’ve never made yeast waffles. I must try them! Pinning!
Oh my gosh, these look AMAZING! And I had to laugh over your comment about getting rid of appliances that are hard to clean. I instantly regret using a whisk whenever I’m cooking/baking because those darn things are just so annoying to clean! Ugh- I get irritated just thinking about it haha!!
Who doesn’t own a whisk? That’s like my right-hand man! haha. These waffles look fantastic. I have to discreetly pin this, otherwise my husband will have me out in the kitchen in the next hour whipping up a batch of these waffles. They are basically everything he loves in life.
These waffles look dreamy. And congratulations on buying a whisk… ;) They do come in handy…
Two things I need to fix ASAP: 1.get waffle maker 2. buy bacon :)
Droolworthy! Do you think the dough will keep in the fridge longer than overnight (say like, 36 hours?) or would they come out with a more sourdough flavor… My in-laws are coming into town this weekend and they love all things sourdough, and these would blow their minds if they had that extra tang!
Honestly, I have no idea. I want to say you’d get a little sourdough flavor after that long but I’m really not sure. Just make sure you stir the batter down every 8 hours or so.
I think your eyes would bug out if you saw how many whisks I own. I’m sort of a kitchen tool whore. And a waffle whore. LOVE these.
haha, in my life it’s me who has a million whisks and my mom who throws things out if she hasn’t used it since yesterday. These look so light and fluffy, and I love that it can be made overnight!
Bahaha. That cracks me up! I never throw away anything I use in the kitchen, but my husband is the exact opposite. He hates having extra kitchen stuff and is always getting rid of things. Luckily he’s never trashed my whisk cause I love that thing. These waffles look and sound awesome Amanda!! Love the bacon addition!!
I love waffles, but have never made them with bacon. Clearly, that needs to change!
Totally stunning photos! I’m a waffle addict, these look great :)
Bacon for the win! Amanda, please consider yourself to have an open ended invitation to come and fix me breakfast anytime! ;)
I don’t normally add yeast to waffles, but what a great way to get nice big, fluffy waffles. And, you can’t go wrong adding bacon. Sounds yummy!
hahaha… this made me laugh! I made ‘slurry” for my white sauce last night… looked at the whisk and thought UGH I don’t want to clean that and used a fork instead! I have 3 whisks and they look pretty on my counter but I don’t use them very often. And those waffles look AMAZING (but I also hate making bacon!).
I am addicted to yeast pancakes and waffles, and hello maple and bacon should always be together, and I am SO over my whisks, they are always tangled together
I am pretty much the queen of kitchen gadgets. Once I tried to list them all, and I got so embarrassed that I had to quit. I have three blenders right now. I NEVER use blenders.
I might use blenders if I could make these maple bacon waffles with them!
Made these for dinner last night and where a HUGE hit. My four year old cleaned his plate, as did my 8 year old. I will say I didn’t follow the recipe exactly – poor planning. I was almost out of AP white flour, so had to use whole wheat. I think that change may have made the waffles a bit more bready than expected, but that wasn’t a bad thing! We made the kids waffles first, and my son only wanted one, so that left one lonely waffle, just hanging out…getting cold. To save it from this fate, my husband and stood at the kitchen counter ripping off pieces while ours cooked. This is definitely going into rotation!
Yay, so glad you guys loved them!
