Trader Joe's Must Haves

Welcome to the 2nd week of this weird Friday thing I’m trying to make happen! I thought today we could talk about my Trader Joe’s faves because I’m still not over having a TJ’s here. Ours opened in October and I still get excited for grocery day each. Plus, my favorite way to procrastinate doing anything is searching for new Trader Joe’s hauls on Youtube.

You guys, I could waste HOURS watching people talk about what they bought at the grocery store.

I do most of my grocery shopping at Trader Joe’s but these are the absolute, must haves that I buy every single week.

Also, our Trader Joe’s doesn’t sell wine (Colorado is so weird, y’all) so that’s why there is none here. Trust me, it would be at the top of the list.

Cruciferous Crunch  I’m so over salads right now so in an effort to eat my greens, I cook this mix of kale, brussels sprouts, cabbage, and broccoli just until it starts to soften. It’s delicious and I just feel super healthy eating it.

Sliced Mango – Judge me if you want. I hate hate hate cutting mango so I stock up on the sliced stuff whenever I go to TJ’s. I go through a package a day. It’s becoming a problem.

Honeycrisp Apples – TJ’s is the only place around here that has small Honeycrisp apples so I always buy at least two bags when I’m there. I’m going to be so sad when the Honeycrisps go away!

Serrano Salsa Fresca – I love all the TJ’s fresh salsas (especially the pico de gallo) but this one is my husband’s favorite. It’s got a good bit of heat without being overwhelming.

Medjool Dates – These are one of my favorite snacks and I’ve ever got my husband hooked on them. I just take the seed out and then fill them with Sunflower Butter.

Organic Carrots – Let’s be real, I just buy these because they’re fun colors. My kids love eating purple carrots!

Mini Heirloom Tomatoes – I found this after I’d already taken the other produce photo. Whoops. These are one of my favorite TJ’s buys because they’re only $2.99! And so delicious!

And now the frozen stuff.

Sweet Potato Tots – Because I have myself convinced that they’re good for me.

Mandarin Orange Chicken – I always have this on hand for easy meals for the kids. A bag lasts them two meals and they all love it. I may or may not sneak bites when no one is watching.

Macarons – Duh. I’m obsessed with their macarons. I’ve now tried them all and can 100% say that the chocolate & vanilla box is the best. I have two every night while watching TV  or reading or whatever – for only 90 calories!

Mahi Mahi Burgers – These are my go-to protein for when I’m rushed or just don’t feel like cooking. So good and they only take a few minutes to cook.

Coconut Oil Spray and Coconut Oil – Just for everyday cooking and baking. They’re less expensive at TJ’s than they are at other stores.

Coconut Milk – I used this in most of the Paleo recipes that I make for my husband. Most call for full fat coconut milk but this stuff works fine. And it’s only $.99!

I also love the Coconut Chips but I can’t buy those because I’ll eat the entire bag at once. They are addictive.

Coconut Flour – The grocery store closest to my house sells coconut flour for $8.99 a bag. Trader Joe’s has it for $2.99. I go through it like crazy so I always buy at least one bag.

Nuts – I buy a TON of nuts each week. I get a few bags of the boring raw, unsalted nuts for my husband and then I alternate between these Coconut Cashews and the Honey Sesame Cashews for me. Both are awesome.

Sunflower Seed Butters – We don’t do peanut butter since it’s not Paleo but neither of us like almond butter much (unless it’s the sugary Justin’s maple or vanilla almond butter) so we go through about a jar of Sunflower Butter a week.

Raw Honey – My husband uses this for his tea and for other snacks. It’s $5.99 compared to the $9.99 Whole Foods one I was buying.

And finally, treats!

Dark Chocolate Honey Mints – My husband loves these! Technically, they aren’t Paleo but they’re close enough that he’s okay with them. The ingredients are literally honey, chocolate liqueur, and peppermint oil. They taste like the York Peppermint Patties but not so strong peppermint. They’re really good.

Dark Chocolate Cookie Butter Cups  – What do I ever say about these? They’re like peanut butter cups but with cookie butter. So good. I keep them in my nightstand so I don’t have to share.
