In a large pot, cook bacon over medium-high heat until crisp. Use a slotted spoon to transfer to a paper towel-lined plate. Set aside. Pour off all but about 1 tablespoon of bacon fat. Add onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes, stirring frequently. Add garlic and cook until just fragrant, about 30 seconds. Add pasta and chicken broth; bring to a boil. Cover and cook 7 minutes.
