Cheesy Bacon Scones

Servings 8 scones

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 4 tablespoons cold unsalted butter cut into small cubes
  • 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese shredded
  • 8 slices bacon cooked and crumbled
  • cup green onions chopped
  • ¾ cup milk plus more for brushing

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar until no lumps remain. Use a pastry cutter to cut the butter into the mixture. Stir in cheese, bacon, and green onions. Stir in ¾ cup milk until combined. Tranfer to a well floured surface and pat into a large circle, about ¾-inch thick. Transfer to your prepared baking sheet and cut into 8 triangles. Separate the triangles slightly and brush with a bit of milk to help them brown.
  3. Bake 22 - 24 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on a wire rack. Serve warm or at room temperature, with butter on the side.
