Slow Cooker Garlic and Brown Sugar Chicken

Ingredients

  • 1 pound boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • cup vinegar
  • cup lemon-lime soda
  • 2 tablespoons minced garlic
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon water

Instructions

  1. Put chicken in slow cooker.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together brown sugar, vinegar, lemon-lime soda, garlic, soy sauce, and pepper. Pour over the chicken in the slow cooker.
  3. Cook on low for 6 hours or high 3-4 hours, until the chicken is practically falling apart.
  4. Remove chicken and shred.
  5. Pour the liquid into a saucepan.
  6. In a small bowl, whisk together cornstarch and water until no lumps remain. Pour into saucepan and whisk to combine. Bring to a simmer and let it go for about 3 minutes or until it thickens slightly. Stir in chicken.
  7. Serve hot.
