Fried Pickles
February 4, 2012 in appetizer

One last Superbowl idea for you!
I don’t usually like doing fried foods when I’m entertaining. They take a lot of time and since you can’t really do them ahead of time, you wind up spending most of your time standing over the stove.
But as we all know, fried foods are almost always crowd-pleasers! These fried pickles take no time at all so they’re perfect for cooking up right as your guests are walking through the door
And umm… fried pickles? One of man’s greatest inventions!
(I am never going to get rid of that Natural Light that my husband’s friends left in my fridge. I’ve been cooking with it at least once a week but it seems to be multiplying. Send beer recipes.)

Ingredients
Instructions
- Pour oil into a heavy pot, a couple inches high. Heat over medium-high.
- Whisk together egg, 1 cup beer, flour, and salt until smooth. If batter is too thick, add in the other ¼ cup beer.
- Once oil is hot, dip pickles, one at a time, in the batter. Allow excess batter to drip off and then drop the pickles in the oil. Fry until golden brown, about 2 minutes on each side.

Ooh I’ve never had them but they sound good even at 8am lol We don’t drink beer and I have been saving up all of my beer recipes. I guess we are going to gave a boozy week soon!
I’ve never had them but hear they’re amazing. I guess that, along with red velvet, is something I should put on my to eat list for the year?
Beer batter just can’t be beat. Love these!
I was thinking of doing a baked version of these, but after seeing these, I think baking them may be sacrilegious!
I love having fried pickles! Such a treat :)
I love me some fried pickles!!!!
Fun! I just saw this on Deep Fried Paradise on the Travel Channel on my way out the door!
One of our favorites. Beer batter makes for a great fish taco! Also, great as a braising liquid for a pot roast. Insaaaane gravy!
I am so behind and have so much catching up to do on your posts, but I would just like to say that I am a pickle fiend and I have been wanting stuff my face with fried pickles (or “frickles”, haha) for so long!! My other friend Amanda told me last year about the ones they serve at Yankee Stadium (we were talking ball park food, ha) and I went berserk! I would go to town on your plate :D
I love, love, love fried pickles! I love your beer batter idea…I haven’t tried it that way, but I bet it’s awesome! PInning!
Your fried pickles look incredible! I’ve never had these, but I’ve dreamed of them quite often, I swear! I have featured this post in today’s Friday Food Fetish roundup. Let me know if you have any objections and thanks for the inspiration
