Sloppy Joe Fries – fries topped with sloppy joe meat, melted cheese, green onions, grape tomatoes, and jalapenos! Perfect football food!
Today starts 5 days off school for all my children.
Who decided this was a good idea?
Someone should’ve consulted me before such an important decision was made.
On the brightside, I don’t have to go anywhere today. I will change into workout clothes and then right back into pajamas after my workout. And a shower, of course.
Tomorrow, however, is parent/teacher conferences. The reason the kids have 5 days off.
Uggghhhh.
I’m always so nervous going into those things.
You guys already know that I’m prone to crying when I’m aggravated and there’s nothing worse than crying in a meeting with your kid’s teacher.
Because then you’re that parent the rest of the year.
Sloppy Joe Fries!
Another good thing about today (and Thursdays in general this time of year) is that we get football!
And you should probably make some Sloppy Joe Fries to eat while you watch football. Why have a boring dinner when you can have fries covered in sloppy joe meat and cheese?
I had my doubts about sloppy joe meat on fries but you guys, it was so good.
Especially with all the melted cheese on top! I put green onions, cherry tomatoes, and jalapeños on mine but you can leave them plain or pile on whatever toppings you like!
Make sure you follow me around the internet!

- 1 28-ounce bag frozen steak fries
- 2 teaspoons olive oil
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 clove garlic minced
- 3/4 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 teaspoons worcestershire sauce
- 1 1/2 cups water
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- green onions cherry tomatoes, & jalapeños, for serving (optional)
-
Bake the entire bag of steak fries according to package's instructions.
-
While the fries bake, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat in a large skillet. Add ground beef and chili powder. Cook the ground beef, breaking it up as it cooks, until no pink remains. Drain if necessary. Add garlic and cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds. Add ketchup, brown sugar, worcestershire sauce, and water. Reduce heat to medium and simmer until slightly thickened, about 8 minutes.
-
Portion the fries out on individual plates. Top with sloppy joe mixture, shredded cheddar cheese, toppings of choice.

Awe man, I cried in front my the teachers last year, if they say something bad, I feel like they’re attacking my son, if they say something good, I’m all ‘that’s my sweet baby’. I hate it too! But on the bright side you can make these fries again to make you feel better. They look incredible!! pinned.
I cry at EVERY parent teacher meeting, good or bad

Five days off for conferences is intense! Our kids just get out an hour early for conference week. How long are your conferences? Ours are only 20 minutes. I hope you don’t cry! If you do, at least you can console yourself with sloppy joe fries. #yum

Did you know that Trader Joe’s opened at University Village today??
Oh yeah! I spent waaaaay too much money there this morning!
We stocked up in Denver a few weeks ago, which is good because I can’t do crowded! I figure I need to wait a few weeks and then go right before they close.
Yeah, it was awful. The line was wrapped around the store twice. I knew it would be crowded but I had no idea it would be that bad!
TWICE?! That’s nuts.
My husband is out of caramel corn and he loves TJ’s brand so I’ve been thinking about running in and grabbing some bags…but I don’t know if I like him that much. ;)
These look SO good Amanda – totally perfect game food too! And good luck at the parent teacher conferences – I hope they go well!!
