Three Musketeers
October 27, 2011 in candy

This right here is the easiest candy recipe you will ever see.
(It will be even easier for you than it was for me because I know you don’t suck at melting chocolate. I, however, consider myself lucky that I got 2 decent looking bars. Someone come give me chocolate melting lessons. Please.)
So I don’t love Three Musketeers. I think it is the lamest candy bar. I mean, have you ever heard someone say, “Wow, I’m really craving a Three Musketeers bar”? Yeah, I haven’t either. BUT I saw this recipe on Beantown Baker almost a year ago and I remember tweeting about it. And then my friend Pam made it and told me how much she loved it.
It’s not often that I remember tweeting something. That recipe made a serious impression on me.
When I set out to do Halloween week, I immediately thought of the recipe. I pulled it up, saw the super short ingredient list, and made it that day.
They taste exactly like a Three Musketeers bar only better because hello! homemade. It’s got that bizarre spongy texture that the store-bought version has! Who knew Cool Whip and melted chocolate could create that! I’m so in love with these, y’all.

Ingredients
Instructions
- Line an 8 or 9-inch square pan with wax paper.
- In a medium bowl, melt semi-sweet chocolate chips in the microwave at fifty percent power, or use a double boiler.
- Using an electric mixer on high speed, beat melted chocolate for about 30 seconds.
- Add whipped topping to melted chocolate and beat until well combined and fluffy, 30-60 seconds more.
- Spread chocolate mixture evenly into prepared pan (if mixture is too stiff, press into pan with lightly dampened hands). Place in freezer for 30 minutes.
- Remove pan from freezer and turn chocolate mixture onto a cutting board; cut into one-inch squares. Return squares to freezer for another 15-20 minutes.
- Meanwhile, melt milk chocolate chips with 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil and stir until well combined. Dip frozen chocolate squares into melted chocolate to coat. Place on wax paper to set. Keep chocolates in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

Are you kidding me? My husband LOVES 3 Musketeers! I have never made it because candy themometers scare me. So making this.
Yum!! I used almost this same recipe for a base for Milky Way’s once. It was so good! And yours look great!!
I don’t love 3 Musketeers, at ALL. I think it’s a texture thing for me. These look AWESOME, though, and I love that the filling is Cool Whip and melted chocolate. Can’t wait to try these!
These have been on my ‘to do” list too. More out of curiosity than a deep love for Three Musketeers. Yours look super yummy.
Haha, I DO love 3Ms! ;) This looks great and easy!
Clearly you haven’t been reading my tweets enough because I’ve said I want a 3 musketeer A LOT lol. And now I want one again. Please send me some.
Girl, you are KILLING me with all these YUMMY posts lately!!! I want to make them ALL, but I am SO not good at making candy…..
I have to use a double boiler. I can’t microwave chocolate – it always gets burned! I had no idea you could make your own Three Musketeers! I’m excited to try this.
Hmm…I I have said “boy am I craving a 3 muskateers”..but then I crave almost all foods so I am not a good example. :)
I wonder if I could use real whipped cream. Too many hydros in the frozen stuff. Yummy but I am eliminating them from my menu because I cook for kids and they get enough of it in other things.
Looks great.
cute!!! I like 3M bars but I would rather have a resee’s, but I think these would be fun to make.
I’ve got this recipe saved on Pinterest! I know my hubby would thank me–must try! Yours look fantastic–that filling. Oh man.
Actually, 3 Musketeers is my favorite candy bar and I crave them all the time!
I made these and the whippedcream melted immediately on contact, and the whole mixture was just too liquidy. I had to throw it out . Any suggestions?
My Cool Whip fell a little bit when I added the chocolate but it set back up in the freezer. Maybe beat the chocolate a little bit longer next time so it has extra time to cool? Let me know if you try again and how it works out! Thanks for reading! :)
I’m so intrigued! I definitely need to try this sometime!
I had a craving for Three Musketeers just the other day (I blame the Halloween holiday!).
I never would have thought to try to make my own. Yum!
Funny that you say 3 muskateers is the lamest chocolate bar. I have to agree, pretty low on my list of chocolate bars. One of the last to be eaten in my Halloween candy bag growing up! But homemade? That beats everything!
AWESOME! I am so trying this. I can’t believe how few ingredients there are! I’d love for you to share this with my readers if you get a chance. Love it!

Awesome! I love homemade candy. I just make homemade Tootsie Rolls last week! Also super easy and taste great.

I suck at melting chocolate in the microwave….but I will drag out the double boiler for this one! Three Musketeers are my favorite!
Thanks!
3 Musketeers ARE my favourites – we never could get them in Australia when I was growing up so trips to the US always involved many of them! I will be making these soon!
I feel your pain with melting and tempering chocolate! I have had so many headaches with it. However I have learned a simple trip to melting and even tempering chocolate in the microwave. Heat in 10-20 second increments, you can even do this at full power. At school we use a professional grade microwave! Make sure you stir between! Heat only until just melted, stirring helps distribute the heat to avoid burning. Good luck! An I can’t wait to make these!
Thanks for the tips! I will definitely try it one day when I’m feeling brave! :)
Oh wow I am so making these!!!
I don’t eat chocolate bars much, but I actually really like Three Musketeers! The filling in yours looks delightful and I can just imagine how awesome it would be to have a bowl full of the stuff and just take a spoon and go to town with it, ha.
Those look so yummy! I’m bunking at the in laws so don’t have my own kitchen. When I do in 3 months I will prolly try this out! :D
Say wha? I never knew you could make these yourself! And strangely, Three Musketeers was my favorite candy bar growing up and still is one of them. I haven’t had a craving in recent years, but I definitely have in the past…which is weird because I agree that they’re pretty dull. Anyways, I’ll definitely have to try this recipe!

Will these work if I use Fat Free whip cream?
Yes, I used the fat free Cool Whip and it worked fine. :)
I tried this, but I melted mint chocolate chips then added my whipped topping. TO DIE FOR!!! Took them to work and everyone raved about them!
Oh my gosh, I will be trying this VERY soon!
