Crockpot Candy
December 18, 2009 in candy, chocolate, nuts, slow cooker

This recipe comes from my best friend and her mother. They make it every Christmas and every Christmas I beg her to bring me some every time I see her. I honestly had no idea it was so easy.
It’s 4 ingredients, the slow cooker does everything for you, and it’s delicious. Spencer asked if I had put crack in it because he can’t seem to stop eating it.
The recipe only calls for peanuts but my friend usually does a mixture of peanuts and pecans. I stuck with only peanuts out of cheapness but the pecans are really good in it. Also, I halved the batch and got a ton (as you can see from the picture below) so if you make a full batch, be ready to eat a lot of peanuts!
- 2 pound white almond bark
- 4 ounces German chocolate bar
- 12 ounce bag semisweet chocolate chips
- 24 ounces dry roasted peanuts
- Add all ingredients to slow cooker. Let cook on low for 1 hour without messing with it. After an hour, stir to combine everything. Allow to cook for another hour, stirring every 15 minutes.
- Drop spoonfuls of the candy onto wax paper and allow to cool completely.

This may be silly, but what is a German Chocolate bar?
I totally had to ask my friend what it was when she gave me the recipe. It’s with the chocolate chips & other baking stuff in the store. There’s a picture here: http://brands.kraftfoods.com/BakersChocolate/BakersBrands.htm in case you go searching for it.
Thanks! These look yummy and super easy!

Hi,
I am your newest follower! I want to make this candy but I can’t seem to find White Almond Bark. Peppermint Bark is everywhere (at least here in New Jersey) but I haven’t seen any other bark. Do I need to go to a specialty store to buy it? Thanks in advance for your help!
The white almond bark should be in the baking aisle with all the chocolate chips and such. It comes in this big brick looking package and might say “white candy coating” or something like that.
Thanks for reading and commenting! Let me know if you still can’t find it and we’ll do some internet investigating for stores in your area! :)
I’m having the same problem here… No White Almond Bark or White candy Coating either… in North Jersey :)
Hmm. That’s bizarre. I’ve never tried it but places like Michael’s or Hobby Lobby should have the little discs of candy coating. I’m not 100% sure it would work in this but it might be worth a try since you can’t find the almond bark. Amazon also sells it: http://www.amazon.com/Log-House-Almond-Vanilla-20-Ounce/dp/B0047YVGZI/ref=sr_1_1?s=grocery&ie=UTF8&qid=1324655126&sr=1-1 Too late to order for the holidays though. :(
I’m from Pennsylvania and our Walmart sells it. I always pick it up for my friend in NJ. I’m not sure if she can’t find it there or not, but I always pick up a brick for her when I’m there. Good luck! Looking forward to trying this recipe! Thanks for sharing!!!!
Thank you so much! I wonder, would this be the same as the candy coating that come in the circles in bags? The ones that are used for cake pops and lollipops?
I think they’re similar. I haven’t tried them in this recipe though so I’m not sure how they would work. I assume they would though.
Just made these tonight as part of our food gifting this year – along with some jam, pickles and cookies. These were so easy to make, and I loved having the crockpot do all the work! Thanks for sharing this recipe, along with all of the others you post.
These were a resounding success with my 17 year old niece! Her Facebook post to me last night: “Your candy was great. I WANT MORE!!!” Thanks again for sharing this recipe with all of us. I wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas!
Wow!!! These are amazing!! My Granddaughter and I made these last night!!! Going to be hard to keep my hand out of the Candy Jar….
Could easily become a Christmas tradition….
Thank you for sharing!!!
Merry Christmas to you all… May God bless You!!!
Just poking around on your blog and whoa! Help me. I need this in my life. Like yesterday.
I am going to try this but was wondering if anyone tried different combos of chocolate? The white chocolate has be confused about what it adds. Peanut clusters were my mom’s very favorite thing and I’d love to make some for Mother’s day and send them to my sibs.
I’m sure it would be fine without the white chocolate. I would substitute regular almond bark though so you get that shiny finish even if you don’t refrigerate it.
Thanks for reading and commenting! :)
Instead of using all those different chocolates, could you use just chocolate bark?
I haven’t tried it so I’m not 100% sure but I don’t see why it wouldn’t work. Thanks for reading! :)
I make peanut clusters with chocolate almond bark all the time, the only difference is I put everything in a skillet and then heat it on a low temp in the oven.
Have you ever tried adding caramel? Sound good, but it might ruin the recipe.
I would love to hear if anyone has done this.
I used this recipie and did add Carmel but not to the mixture; as I placed the clusters on the wax paper I added the Carmel and then added another layer of cluster on top; I used Hershey caramel ice cream topping, this was my first attempt at this recipie so I may try a different type of caramel the next time. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed these treats.
Was the crockpot on low or high?
The crockpot should be on low. Thanks for reading and commenting! :)
Has anyone tried substituting raisins to make chocolate covered raisins using this recipe?
Has anyone tried substituting raisins in place of the peanuts to make chocolate covered raisins?
My experience with raisins in the crockpot (this was in overnight oats so not the same thing at all) is that they release a lot of juice and everything becomes really raisin-y. But since this isn’t cooked very long, it might be worth a try.
