Don’t let the name of this fool you.
It may be called a salad but there is absolutely nothing healthy about it! But man, is it good!
I made this strawberry pretzel salad last week and my 3 year old kept asking me why it was red. After telling him over and over again that it was because it had strawberries in it, he told me that he wanted a purple one.
With grapes.
And grape jello.
And while I couldn’t stomach anymore jello I knew the whole family would love this classic Grape Salad recipe.
It’s fresh grapes with a creamy dressing and topped with a sweet, crunchy topping! Everyone loved it and it was so easy to put together!
Ingredients
- Cream cheese – make sure to soften it before starting the recipe so you get a really creamy dressing.
- Sour cream – this adds just a bit of tanginess to the sweet dressing.
- Sugar
- Vanilla
- Red grapes – you can use all one color of grapes if you prefer but I like how it looks with multiple colors.
- Green grapes
- Brown sugar – this is going on top of the salad. It adds a little extra sweetness plus a nice crunch.
- Pecans – the crunch of the pecans are such a nice contrast to the juicy grapes and creamy dressing.
Instructions
- Make dressing. Use an electric mixer to beat cream cheese, sour cream, sugar, and vanilla until well combined.
- Combine everything. Add grapes and toss to coat.
- Chill. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
- Add toppings. Before serving, sprinkle with brown sugar and chopped pecans.
How Long Is It Good For?
Grape salad is best eaten within 3 – 4 days. Make sure you’re storing it in an airtight container in the refrigerator to keep it fresh for as long as possible.
Can You Make It Ahead?
You can make this fruit salad the morning before or even the night before you plan to serve it. I wouldn’t add the brown sugar and pecans until right before serving though.
Make sure to store it in the fridge in an airtight container.

Try adding shredded mild cheddar to it! It’s absolutely amazing!

Instead of the brown sugar and pecans, I crushed a couple of Butterfinger candy bars and sprinkle on top. Really a hit.
Martha Lee says
Yes the grapes do need to be completely dry or the dressing will be watery.I leave the grapes whole.
Debbie says
Everyone raves about this grape salad whenever I make it! Very easy but make sure your grapes are very dry before adding the cream cheese mixture.
Sue says
This sounds yummy! The “dressing” you use is the same recipe for a fruit dip that my family has used for years, so you have found a double duty recipe! Try it as a dip for your kiddos-big or small, everyone will love ❤ it. You could also use it as your base for fruit pizza! Wow, a triple use recipe! Anybody else have more ideas for this great dressing/dip/fruit pizza sauce?

Has anyone ever made the salad with the grapes cut up instead of whole
Nikki says
It will be to watery if you cut them up
Bobbie L Hillis says
I have made with grapes cut in two halves. Trust me it doesn’t last long enough to get watery.
Liz says
And make sure the grapes are completely dry.
Ronda Lambert says
I cut my grapes in half lengthwise if they are larger sized ones. I don’t find it makes it watery. But, then again, it never really lasts long enough to know if would get watery overnight. My son in law would eat a 50 gallon drum of it if I would make it for him.
*I also add a small tub of cool whip to mine.
Billie says
Yes and it works the same I like mine cut up instead of whole

I have made this for a while now. I use quite a bit more brown sugar and pecans, enough to completely cover the top. This is definitely one of my favorite things ever. It’s always a hit any time I have made it. Everyone always wants the recipe.

I LOVE this salad. I sprinkle the brown sugar on when I first make it. The sugar has melted by the time we’re ready to eat — yum yum.
